Dermal fillers? The side effects explained

With every treatment comes different potential risks. Most are mild, and some more extreme risks are often rare, but you’re entitled to know what these are before making a decision about treatment and dermal fillers are no different.

After receiving Dermal Fillers, it’s super common to experience redness, bruising, swelling, itchiness and tenderness in the area treated, but these side effects tend to go away pretty quickly with the right post-treatment care (your certified nurse will fill you in on everything you need to know). Sometimes, this redness can stick around for a few days to a few weeks, occasionally with small bumps or pimples.

Don’t let this scare you though – these general side effects are temporary and usually vanish in a few days, leaving you looking as good as new (even better actually, thanks to our amazing Dermal Fillers).

One of the rarer side effects is slight discolouration at the treatment site, but even if this occurs, the pigmentation is reversible!

More serious, but still rare, side effects that have been reported include cases of granuloma, which is a small accumulation of tissue, abscess, blocking of blood vessels damaging the skin in surrounding areas, and blindness.

If any inflammatory symptoms last longer than a week, or you are to experience one of the more serious side effects, contact your nurse or doctor to receive appropriate treatment if needed.

However, such issues are extremely rare, and we have had a great experience with my clients receiving Dermal Fillers.
